Moving from Joomla to WordPress.

Project Synopsis

The Focused Ultrasound Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the development and worldwide adoption of focused ultrasound as a standard treatment to enhance the lives and extend the longevity of people with serious medical conditions. Focused ultrasound is being used to treat more than 100 diseases and conditions, including FDA-approved applications for Parkinson’s disease, prostate cancer, liver tumors, and more.

The Focused Ultrasound Foundation teamed up with Storyware to transition its website from Joomla to WordPress, while also launching new sites for its sister organizations in the UK and Hong Kong.

The Diseases and Conditions section is among the site’s most visited, providing current information on focused ultrasound clinical applications.

To accommodate frequent updates, we built a flexible and intuitive system for both managing and exploring the content.
Managing Diseases and Conditions in WordPress

This solution leveraged Advanced Custom Fields Pro to create a custom post type and SearchWP to power robust search functionality.

Integrations

Alongside plugins like ACF and SearchWP, we integrated a React application developed by the Foundation to display Salesforce data on key pages that help users search for treatment centers. For the sister sites, we added multilingual functionality using Bablic.
